Cozy house for a family of three; despite a limited budget, the project attempted to create an eye-catching appearance from the street with an unusual roof design – a staggered double-pitched roof instead of a simple lean-to roof – and specially designed black window grilles which try to transform security concerns into works of art. This trend following the German saying “klein, aber fein” (small, but nice) continues inside, with clean yet elegant lines in the kitchen, where a massive island with a polished concrete countertop attracts the attention, as well as dark green “subway-style” tiles (the owners are New Yorkers) as backsplashes and in the shower cabin.
